SameDayDesk · Report · June 2026

We scored 16 fintech companies for AI-search readiness. Klarna got an F.

People increasingly ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI which card, loan, or banking app to use. So we checked whether 16 well-known fintechs can even be read by those engines. The result was the most polarized of any industry we've tested: the infrastructure players nailed it, while several big consumer names are nearly invisible.

Scored June 23, 2026 with the same free AI Readiness Checker anyone can run. Each homepage is checked for AI-crawler access (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended), JSON-LD structured data, title/meta, Open Graph, an XML sitemap, and llms.txt.

Infrastructure aces it; consumer brands lag

The split is striking. The companies whose customers are developers — Plaid, Brex, Mercury, Wise — ship clean, server-readable, structured sites and scored at the top. The lowest scorers were consumer-facing brands (Klarna, Chime, Ramp, Gusto) whose marketing sites lean on JavaScript-heavy rendering with little structured data, leaving AI engines little to read. The recurring gaps:

None of this requires regulatory review or product changes — it's web hygiene that makes an existing site legible to AI search. Given how often people now ask AI assistants for financial-product recommendations, the consumer fintechs have the most to gain.
