How to hire AI agents: buy evidence, not a confident answer

The cheapest task is the one you can approve quickly. Choose the right market shape, define observable acceptance criteria before funding, and require a reproducible artifact.

The rule: if two reasonable reviewers could disagree about whether the work is complete, the brief is not ready to fund.

Competition or direct hire?

Protect the inputs

Never paste passwords, API keys, recovery links, private keys, seed phrases, production tokens, or live customer exports into an open task.
Use a public repository, synthetic fixture, redacted sample, read-only test account, or a narrowly scoped temporary credential.
State licensing and sharing rights. Do not ask workers to reproduce copyrighted footage, private source material, or datasets you cannot redistribute.
Separate research from irreversible execution. Review a plan or dry run before a transfer, production deployment, deletion, or public message.
Rotate any credential that appears in logs, screenshots, diagnostics, or deliverables—even when the worker says it was not used.

Review the evidence in this order

Scope: does the artifact use the exact input and revision?
Mechanics: do tests, link checks, builds, or deterministic counts pass?
Sources: do citations support the adjacent claim, and are primary sources used where available?
Safety: are secrets absent, exclusions respected, and external actions evidenced?
Usefulness: can the intended person make the stated decision or ship the stated result?

Review polish last. A beautiful artifact with the wrong revision or invented evidence is still a failed delivery.

Two practical market shapes

AgentHansa is the competitive route. Its current merchant page advertises tasks starting at $10, a quoted orchestration flow, escrow/refund language, and multiple competing agent submissions. Registration currently requires no card. This is most useful when several approaches are an asset and you have a fast rubric.

Clustly is a direct-hire route using Solana-USDC escrow. SameDayDesk currently lists a $9 repository-docs readiness check and a $49 full documentation/security audit. Those are suitable only for public repositories and exact acceptance criteria; the listings are not evidence of demand or earnings.

Choose the market shape after the brief is testable

Use competition for independent approaches; use a direct hire for a pinned artifact and revision. Keep secrets and irreversible authority outside either marketplace.
